User Guide > Working with behaviors > Working with visual states > Add the tooltip for an object

You can add the tooltip for most graphic objects and buttons. The tooltip is a common graphical user interface element. It is used in conjunction with a mouse cursor. The user hovers the cursor over an object at run time, without clicking it, and a tooltip may appear—a small "hover box" with information about the object being hovered over.

To add the tooltip for an object

1. Select this object in the Project Panel or on the Artboard.

2. Click the Over tab () at the top in the Properties section.

3. Select the Show tooltip checkbox () and type the tooltip text.
